Business Skills Migration aims to attract business people with a proven record of business skills and expertise. In particular, it looks at your level of experience as a successful business or investment owner, or senior executive, and will result in one or more of the following benefits to Australia:
-
Enhanced business and investment skills
-
Business links with international markets (esp. Asia-pacific region)
-
Creation of new jobs
-
Increased exports
-
Import replacement
-
Use of new or improved technology
-
Increased commercial activity and competitiveness
Australia welcomes highly experienced business people who can bring global expertise and investment to Australia. There has never been a better opportunity to benefit from the Australian Business Skills Migration Program. Boasting one of the most developed and technologically advanced economies in the Western world, Australia's economy continues to grow strongly despite the global slowdown. Australia offers business people a new challenge:
-
A chance to develop your business and your skills,
-
Access to the Asia-Pacific region; and
-
A better future for your family.
Australia is one of the few countries, which continues to welcome new migrants: people with the skills and capital to contribute to the growth of the country's industries. There are a number of visa categories within the Business Migration Stream:
Business Owners Visa
If you already own a significant ownership interest in business onshore or offshore, the Business Owner Visa may be for you. There are financial, age and English requirements in the form of a points test (applicant must have held net assets in business of $200,000 for at least 2 of the last 4 years and have been directly involved in running business in 2 of the last 4 years). You must also have a successful business career and intend to establish or buy an existing business in Australia. You need to provide a
business plan for your proposed business in Australia.
Senior Executive Visa
The Senior Executive visa may be for you, if you are employed in one of the top three levels of management of a major business with an annual turnover of AUD$10,000,000 (if you are sponsored) or AUD$50,000,000 (if you are not sponsored). You have been responsible for strategic policy development or a wide range of business operations and also have overall successful business career and intend to establish or buy an existing business in Australia. There are financial, age and English requirements in the form of
a points test. You need to provide a business plan for your proposed business in Australia. Business Owners and senior executives are required to make a genuine effort to get involved in business and must report on their efforts after their arrival.
Investment Linked Visa
If you are an experienced business investor willing to invest substantial capital into an Australian Government Security for a fixed term an Investment-Linked visa is ideal for you. After migration to Australia, holders of this visa are also expected to engage in some form of business or investment activity. To gain the Investment Linked visa you must make a three-year investment in specified government bonds. You must have a successful business career and supply evidence of acceptable source of funds. The
minimum investment in the specified government bonds is AUD$750,000. Your net assets must be in excess of AUD$1,125,000. Funds will be invested in government securities for a period of 3 years.
Established Business in Australia
If you already have a significant ownership interest in an Australian business and intend to reside in Australia in order to be actively involved in this business, you may be eligible to migrate under this category. The Established Business visa requires the least amount of capital outlay compared to other forms of business migration. The Established Business in Australia visa is the most commonly applied for business skills visa. This visa grants you permanent stay in Australia based on the grounds that you
have established a business in Australia that meets the visa criteria. Although the financial and business criteria are lower than other business skills visas it remains an intricate and difficult visa to gain.
